For almost 30 years, My Friend’s Place has not only been a safe haven for homeless and runaway young people, but also a comprehensive resource center. There, clients can take care of their basic needs including food, clothing, showers, and most crucially—a sense of belonging.
My Friend’s Place is a hate-free space that allows young people to create art, music, and other projects that are made available for purchase in the “Corner Collective” gallery. Through this program, clients can see that the community cares for them and sees their potential.
Homelessness disproportionately affects lesbian, gay, and/or transgender youth, with 40% of homeless youth identifying as LGBTQ. But, there’s a way you can help.
Since 2012, Rudy’s and the It Gets Better Project have been working together to support the LGBTQ community. This year the partnership expanded to serve youth experiencing homelessness. For every purchase of Rudy’s 1-2-3 shower products, the same products will be donated to a shelter like My Friend’s Place in Los Angeles.
