Pride is much more than a single event or a moment, it’s a movement to advance equality and serve as a catalyst to fight bias. #LeadWithLove #CantCancelPride
The key to victory is a strong community, a strong bond, a strong identity, and a strong voice. We can only do that if we are ready to be brave, to get out of our comfort zone by helping others in need and by standing up, together.
Life can be incredibly hard but you can deal with it one step at a time, and you will be surprised at the wins life throws you. It might sound cheesy but love and happiness are always worth fighting for. You never know how your life is going to turn out, there is no way you can know, so you might as well go with it and see what happens. Keep going.
I want to let you know, you who are reading this, that there will always be someone to support you. You are still you. You are still awesome. Love is love. Ignore the haters. Be who you are and be proud of it. I am not brave enough to come out to anyone else, but I am working on it. Just let me tell you this, it gets better. Once you have told people, it gets better, because they know the truth, and they understand you even more. They can fully support you. So go. Be awesome.
“To young people, I want to tell you, no matter what anyone tells you, you are loved and cared for and you’re not a mistake,” said 78-year-old Rev. Troy Perry of the Metropolitan Community Church. ❤️
Jalen Bell-Syftestad, a youth-focused ally-activist and one of Perry’s parishioners, follows: “It’s always important to me that we continue the fight that Troy started… and it’s a fight that’s always going to have to continue because there will always be people against us.” 🌈

For almost 30 years, My Friend’s Place has not only been a safe haven for homeless and runaway young people, but also a comprehensive resource center. There, clients can take care of their basic needs including food, clothing, showers, and most crucially—a sense of belonging.
My Friend’s Place is a hate-free space that allows young people to create art, music, and other projects that are made available for purchase in the “Corner Collective” gallery. Through this program, clients can see that the community cares for them and sees their potential.
