A question we get a lot is, “If I’m nonbinary, do I have to look or dress androgynous?”

And International #NonbinaryPeoplesDay is the perfect day to answer: of course not! Our gender is something we experience “on the inside.” While some people like to match their outward expression with their gender identity, it’s certainly not a requirement.

You can dress in a feminine way, masculine way, androgynous way, or anywhere in between or outside of those boxes and still be nonbinary - clothes are clothes.

You know what your identity is, and that’s what matters.

50 States, 50 Grants, 5,000 Voices. Get a sneek peak at which schools were granted up to $10,000!ALT
Birmingham, Alabama. The project: Our plan is to create a Pride Garden involving community partners at our school, which has over 50% LGBTQ+ students.ALT
Ewa Beach, Hawaii. The project: Our project will be rebuilding our school’s GSA club by holding and participating in LGBTQ+ events, including Honolulu Pride.ALT
Columbus, Ohio. The project: Our grant will go towards developing and creating a Queer Student Union to hold events about LGBTQ+ history and celebrate Pride.ALT
Baldwin Park, California. The project: We’ll use the Pride Garden we built with last year’s grant to expand the space for hosting an LGBTQ+ Culture Club to teach students about queer history and art.ALT
Edmonton, Alberta. The project: Our project will be to create and host an Alberta-wide conference for middle and high school students, focusing mostly on BIPOC and First Nation LGBTQ+ students.ALT
